FBI considering changing marijuana policy to attract more 'techies'

Congress recently gave the go ahead for the FBI to hire 2000 more agents, with a major focus on cyber crime. Unfortunately, the FBI is having a hard time finding qualified candidates for these new jobs.

It isn't the lack of high skilled computer programmers hampering the efforts, it is the fact that many of the best qualified candidates smoke marijuana regularly. FBI Director James Comey might have a controversial solution.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Comey suggested it was time to loosen the strict regulations regarding previous marijuana use while he was speaking at the White Collar Crime Institute in New York. Currently, if you have smoked marijuana within the last three years, you are ineligible to get a job with the FBI.

Comey is concerned that the FBI is losing out on potential recruits over a drug that a majority of Americans believe should be legal. Meanwhile, criminals are becoming more and more sophisticated and dangerous.
