ATV rider hurt in fall on rock pile

ATV rider hurt in fall on rock pile

Saturday night around 7 p.m., Forest Grove Fire and Rescue was called to an ATV accident in the area of Browns Camp in the Tillamook State Forest about 3 miles off of the Wilson River Highway.

Some crews battling a field fire were called from that operation to help the injured rider.

The ATV rider had fallen approximately 15-20 feet down a rock pile; his injuries were serious enough that a Life Flight helicopter was utilized to transport the patient to the trauma center at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

Wilson River Highway had to be shut down for about 10 minutes while crews used the roadway to land the Life Flight helicopter; this caused a minor back in traffic for weekend commuters that were traveling to and from Tillamook.
