Drug busts show growing heroin use in Clark County

The Clark-Vancouver Regional Drug Task Force conducted two drug buys Tuesday resulting in the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of approximately one pound of heroin.

The first buy occurred in the 9500 block of SE French Road in Vancouver at about 4:30 PM.  Antonia Barrera-Marquez, 32, Portland, was arrested by task force detectives after delivering heroin.  He was transported and booked at the Clark County Jail for delivery of a controlled substance.

The second buy occurred near the intersection of NE 132nd Ave and NE 32nd St in Vancouver at about 6:00 PM.  Jose A. Rodriguez-Armenta, 27, Vancouver, and Edilberto Alvarez-Ruiz, 25, Mount Vernon, WA, were arrested by task force detectives after delivering heroin.  They were both transported and booked at the Clark County Jail for delivery of a controlled substance.

"We seized approximately one pound of heroin as a result of these two undercover operations," said task force commander Mike Cooke.  "I think this is just more evidence of the upward trend in heroin abuse in Clark County."

The total street value for the heroin seized is approximately $16,000.
