Man cited for DUI after crashing into tree

An Oregon City man was cited by Oregon State Police after he was found New Year's Day morning seriously injured in an Interstate 5 rest area bathroom south of Wilsonville following a single vehicle crash.

An OSP sergeant responded to the southbound Interstate 5 French Prairie Rest Area near milepost 282 following several reports of a suspicious person with injuries. While checking the rest area, the person was found inside a rest area bathroom and medical personnel were dispatched.

Chael Jakob Lynch, age 22, from Oregon City, was injured a couple hours earlier after crashing his Toyota Camry into trees lining the rest area entrance ramp next to the southbound lanes of Interstate 5. The car sheered a large tree in half and was partially concealed by downed tree debris and vegetation. Lynch was transported to Oregon Health & Science University for treatment of serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Subsequent investigation led OSP to cited Lynch for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants - Alcohol.
