Names released in Beaverton Police shooting

On Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at approximately 1:40 p.m. Beaverton Police Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 15000 block of SW Bridle Hills Drive. The initial report was that the suspect had broken into the residence.

When officers arrived they were confronted by an adult male identified as Herbert Rabago 28 years of age at the front door of the residence. Rabago was armed with a large knife and refused officer's commands to drop the knife and charged directly at an officer. This officer had no choice but to use deadly physical force to protect his life and the life of others in the area and fired his duty weapon striking Rabago.

The involved officer is a 10 year veteran of the Beaverton Police Department and is identified as Officer Jeremy Shaw. Officer Shaw is currently on paid administrative leave, which is standard any time an officer is forced to use deadly physical force.

Rabago was taken from the scene to an area hospital for treatment of his non-life threating injuries.
