Sexual Assault Suspect Linked to Second Crime

Portland Police arrested 17-year-old Justin Hubbard for breaking into an apartment in Northeast Portland and trying to rape the woman inside.  It happened at the Greenleaf Springs Apartments on 125th Place and Sandy Boulevard early Monday morning.  Hubbard had a knife but the 26-year-old victim fought back and her fiance chased him away.  Police tracked him to a neighboring apartment complex where he lives.

During the investigation, police determined he is the same person who sexually assaulted a Parkrose High School student back in March.  The 16-year-old was walking to school near 131st and Prescott Drive when she was attacked.  She reported the incident to school officials, who called police.  At that time they didn't have enough information to name a suspect.

Hubbard will be in court Tuesday to face charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Sex Abuse in the First Degree and Attempted Rape in the First Degree.  More charges will be added related to the attack in March.
