Woman killed by Salem Police

Salem Police Officer Trevor Morrison had stopped a vehicle on Watson Avenue near Alameda Street NE for a traffic violation around 10 p.m. Friday. 

25-year-old Jacklynn Rashaun Ford ran from the vehicle and Morrison followed with his K9 partner. 

Shots were fired and Ford was hit.  Officer Morrison gave Ford first aid until medics arrived, but she died at Salem Hospital.

Police found a gun near Ford.

Officer Morrison and his K9 partner were not hurt.

The Oregon State Police is investigating the shooting.
